Watch Your Life Bible Study
April 5 Week One Recap
Key Points:
· When the Bible speaks of life, it speaks of the “heart” or motive. This theme is woven throughout Scripture. (Proverbs 4:23, Proverbs 27:19, Jeremiah 17:9, I Peter 3:3 I Samuel 16:7)
· Our “motives” (heart) in response to the three c’s: change, challenge, complexity.
· ‘Watch’ your life and doctrine. How? A ‘rule’ of life (ruler: a straight strip used to draw straight lines and to measure distances). God’s word is the ‘ruler’.
· Rule of Life as mediated by God’s word governs soul care, spiritual maturity, mental well-being, intellectual vibrancy, physical health.
· “Sentry’ (a soldier stationed to keep guard or to control access to a place) is the mindset needed for guarding our spiritual lives.
· “Watch” in two phases: inward (spiritual decay) and outward (external attack); it’s not what’s happening around you, it’s what’s happening within you.
