This past weekend, on the annual observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Pastor W. Eric Croomes Ministries (PWEC Ministries) celebrated its fourth year of operations!
I launched PWEC Ministries in January 2020 after my tenure ended as pastor of the Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas in December 2019. I started PWEC Ministries because I desired a means to continue my evolution in pastoral ministry while continuing my matriculation in seminary, and as a way to conduct practical and effective kingdom-building work.
I purposely targeted the annual observance of MLK Day in 2020 because Dr. King's commitment to social justice resonated with me personally and, from a ministry perspective, the values, ethics and vision for creating the beloved community based on what Dr. King described as a "qualitative change in our souls as well as a quantitative change in our lives".
This year, on what would have been Dr. King's 95th birthday, I am even more excited about PWEC Ministries with the launching of the Charley and Dorothy Croomes Foundation (CDCF), our Phoenix-based 501 3(c) non-profit, whose mission is to build our families and communities into the kingdom of God and the kingdom of God into our families and communities.
CDCF is an effort to memorialize the life and legacy of our parents, the Reverends Charley and Dorothy Croomes, who gave willingly of themselves for the good of others and who instilled godly values into myself and my siblings.
Two different entities but the same goal: to act as a conduit for the building of God's people and communities in the spirit of not only the beloved community, but foremost, Matthew 22:37: Jesus said unto him, Thou shall love the Lord thy God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, You shall love your neighbor as thyself.
